World AIDS Day 2025: Centering Rights. Centering People. Ending AIDS

December 09, 2025

01 December, on World AIDS Day, AHRA stands with people who use drugs and all key populations across Southeast Asia who continue to face the highest burdens of HIV and the greatest barriers to care.

Ending AIDS is possible.
But only if stigma ends.
Only if criminalization ends.
Only if communities are empowered to lead.

AHRA calls for urgent action to:

  • Scale up harm reduction as an essential public health service
  • Remove legal and structural barriers that deny people access to HIV prevention and treatment
  • Invest in community-led and peer-led responses
  • Protect the rights, dignity, and safety of people who use drugs
  • Ensure equitable, gender-responsive services for women and marginalized groups

Our message is clear:

Health is a human right. Harm reduction saves lives. Communities must lead.

Together, we can end AIDS in Southeast Asia, if we act with courage, evidence, and solidarity.
